Harold Porte Obituary

Harold Porte age 92 of St. John, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Anna Jean (Koenes) Porte and his children Kevin (Ruth) Porte, Sharon (late: Ron) Boersma, and Steven (Nina) Porte; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Tom) Adamson, Kimberly (Doug) Drummond, Kristina (Chris) Climer, Valarie (Austin) Scheeringa, Isaac (Brittany) Porte, Katelyn Porte, Dawn (Brad) Bonneau, Tammi (Mike) Szczepanek, Jessica (Grant) Traxler, Jenna (Kevin) James, Jonathan Porte, Brett (Lizz) Milcoff, Steffany Milcoff (Marc Oestreich), Scott Milcoff; 28 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law: Richard Schaap. Preceded in death by his parents, Gerben and Nellie Porte, his sisters Lorraine Schaap, Loretta (Jim) VanVuren, Eileen (Henry) Bosch, and son-in-law: Ronald Boersma.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Village Church 14849 W. 93rd Ave, Dyer, IN 46311 from 3:00 to 6:30 PM, with services immediately following. Private burial on Saturday, February 15 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Lansing.
Harold retired from Commonwealth Edison, where he worked as a lineman and crew leader. He served in the Army overseas during the Korean War. Harold enjoyed volunteering at the Lansing Food Pantry, the Highland thrift store, and doing disaster relief work throughout the US. He also enjoyed spending 23 winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Harold loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Phil's Friends or the Bible League.
