Helen Skolak Obituary

Helen P. Skolak Valparaiso Helen P. Skolak, age 88, of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2004. She was born February 27,1916, in Gary to Anthony and Jozefa (Ciba) Powenska. Before moving to Valparaiso she had lived in the Tolleston area of Gary and South Haven. She had been a machine operator for 29 years with the Bear Brand Hosiery Factory in Gary and worked as an inspector with the Anderson Company for 16 years. She attended the Bonner Senior Center in Portage and was a member of the Northwest Indiana Retirees Club. She is survived by two children, Donald (Karlene) Skolak and Dolores (John) Bean, both of Valparaiso; four grandchildren, Alicia Skolak Magee of Valparaiso, Pamela Sydney of Alabama, John Bean III and Michael Bean, both of Valparaiso; four great-grandchildren, Brandon Dibkey of Lake Village, John P. Bean of Arkansas, Kyliah Bean and Zaedin Skolak Magee, both of Valparaiso; one great-great-grandson, Brandon Hinkle of Lake Village; one brother, John Povlinski of Gary; one sister-in-law, Ann Povlinski of Portage; many loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil in 1983, grandson, Lancer Skolak, sister, Frances Bugay and brothers, Theodore and Walter Povlinski and Steve Powell. At Helen's request, there will be no services. Cremation at Angelcrest Crematory at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso. Memorials may be made to VNA Hospice or Whispering Pines Elm Unit. angelcrestinc.com
