PRESTON YAHNE Obituary

Prosser Funeral Home

Preston Loyal Yahne, 22, of Prosser, was taken away from those he loved and those who loved him on June 14, 2013. Preston was born on September 25, 1990 in Prosser.

Preston was raised and educated in Prosser and graduated with the class of 2009 from Prosser High School. During high school he played football and baseball for the Prosser Mustangs. He was a member of 4H, raising and showing goats at the Grandview and Benton County Fair and was a member of Future Farmers of America (FFA), where he raised and showed pigs at the fair. Following high school, Preston served in the U.S. Air Force with the 91st Security Forces Group as a Security Police Officer where he provided security operations at remote nuclear missile bases in Minot, North Dakota. While in the service Preston took advantage of travel opportunities and ventured on an outing with his military buddies to Canada on a sightseeing trip. Following his military service Preston returned to Prosser and enrolled at Columbia Basin Community College in Pasco where he started work on his Associate Degree. Preston worked numerous part-time jobs while going to college. Preston was inspired by recently watching his sister, Kortney, graduate from the Yakima Valley Community College Vet Tech Program and renewed his interest in completing his degree. Most recently Preston worked for the past two years for the Taste of Heaven Bakery in Prosser.

Preston especially enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and God-daughters, Ava and Mia Magana, with whom he visited the day he died. Preston had many special friends in his life but one he was very thankful for was his friend Noemi Macias who taught him to draw and oil paint and brought out his artistic side. Preston also loved riding his bike, skateboarding and playing basketball in the park. Preston was a practical joker and loved to make everyone around him laugh. Preston loved to flirt with the girls and never met a girl he didn't try to befriend. Preston loved to attend family picnics and get-together and loved sitting down with his Grandpa for long talks about the challenges of life.

Preston is survived by his parents, Angie and Joe Villanueva; twin sister, Kortney Yahne; and sister, Sharrae Villanueva, all of Prosser; his grandparents, Harold and Cathie Hunt of Prosser and Rosa Mirelez of Sunnyside; his great-grandmother, Edna Hunt of Prosser; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins including Uncle and Aunt Tim and Amy Hunt of Prosser, Uncle and Aunt Larry and Lori Hunt of Prosser, and Uncle Scott Hunt of Prosser; Aunt and Uncle Zenadia Johnson and Brian Moe; Uncle and Aunt Ray and Roberta Mirelez, and Uncle and Aunt Jesse and Isabelle Mirelez. Preston is also survived by his trusted and faithful canine companion, Blaze. Preston was preceded in death by his grandparents, Preston and Blanche Yahne; and great-grandfather, Wm. C. Hunt, Aunt Cecilia Villanueva, and great-uncle Terry Hunt.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, at 1:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Prosser. Refreshments for guests will be served at the church immediately following the service. Private family inurnment services will be held at a later date in the Prosser Cemetery.
