Jacob J. Groen "Jay" Chicago Heights Jacob "Jay" Groen, age 71, of Chicago Heights, IL passed away on Monday, October 17, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Groen is survived by his wife: Evelyn, nee Swets; four sons: Randy (Lori, nee Post) of Cedar Lake, IN, David (Cathy, nee Lawrence) of St. John, IN, Bruce (Tammy, nee Fulton) of Crete, IL and John (Pam, nee Jabaay) of Munster, IN; 17 grandchildren: Nicky (Tim) Dykstra, Katie, Josh, Mallory, Ashley, Dan, Max, Stephanie, Chad, Joe, Alexa, Jessie, Zach, Tiffany, Hannah, Brittany, and Rachel; three sisters: Susan (late Dirk) Munnke of Champaign, IL, Ruth (Tom) Ridderbos of Grand Rapids, MI, and Marlene Groen of Schererville, IN; one sister-in-law: Midge (late Don) Groen of Dowagiac, MI; several nieces and nephews and other in-laws. Visitation Thursday, October 20, 20205 from 2:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. at the Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home 649 E. 162nd St (Rt. 6/159th St.) South Holland, IL. Funeral Service, Friday, October 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with services conducted by Rev. Gerrit Veenstra. Interment, Oak Ridge Cemetery - Lansing, IL. Mr. Groen was a retired self-employed stove repairman and co-founder of Groen Furniture in Dyer, IN. He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Lansing, IL.
