November 25, 1935 - April 3, 2023
Jim enjoyed life, especially his family, volunteering at church, coaching youth sports, crafting model ships, metal craft, and painting. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp and the Knights of Columbus, and was retired from Republic Steel and Ace Hardware. Jim's ability to find the humor in any situation will be greatly missed!
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Cathleen (nee Clark); brothers, Thomas and Jerry; and daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Steve Barath. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley (nee Kaminsky) Bender; daughters, Susan (Joel) Wiersma, Debbie (Rick) Hutchinson, Jennifer (Gerry) Fisher, Cindy (Clyde) Braviere, and Lisa Bender (Jason Monroe); 12 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Services: Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, June 8 with a Memorial Mass held at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 207 Main Street, Manteno, IL 60950.
