James Berwanger Obituary

James E. Berwanger Lansing, IL James E. Berwanger, age 68, of Lansing, Il, passed away Monday, August 22, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joan (nee Osborne) daughters: Katherine (Ron) Thill and Jeannie (fiance' Bo Lollar); sons: John, Fred, Michael (fiance', Melanie Matela); grandchildren: Eric, Ryan and Lauren; nephew, James Byrley. James was preceded in death by his parents: Andrew and Mary Berwanger; sisters: Lois (late John) Fogardy and Maryanne Byrley. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. from the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL. Cremation to follow. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m. James retired from Kaiser Aluminum/Dolton Extrusion after 36 years of service. He was a respected/feared press operator. He was a Thornton Fractional North graduate of 1955. James loved all types of animals and he especially enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed helping family, friends and neighbors whenever they called on him for a helping hand. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James's name to the Les Turner ALS Foundation, 8142 Lawndale Avenue, Skokie, IL 60076-3322 or the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals).
