James Olsen Obituary

James Bruce Olsen CRETE, IN - James Bruce Olsen, age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2017 in Crete, IL. He was the beloved husband of the late Sharon A. Olsen (nee Slankard); loving father of James (Susan) Olsen and Janet (Andrew) Gatto, and the late Jennifer Olsen and Julie Olsen. He was the proud grandfather of Joel Gatto and Charlie, Jackie, and the late Jessica Olsen; and dear brother of Raymond Olsen. James was preceded in death by his parents: Raymond and Maxine Olsen; and sisters: Janet Olsen and Judy (Donald) Willson. James was born in Chicago, IL on May 29, 1938. He graduated from Thornton Township High School in Harvey in 1956. He joined the Midwest Operating Engineers Local 150 Union in July, 1960 and worked paving roads for over 40 years. He lived most of his life in Lansing, IL, where he and his wife raised their family. He was a devoted son, husband, father, and friend to many. Friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions in James' name may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. www.schroederlauer.com
