We want to extend our most heartfelt sympathy to Jeff's family. Jeff was a special presence on Manasota Beach (where we came to know him). Though he may not have had the official title of "Mayor", Jeff certainly was the "Mayor's" Chief of Staff. He loved the beach, knew its regulars and snowbirds, truly enjoyed his boat and fishing and never failed to note any new and interesting sites to hit the sands. Jeff always had a smile, a witty comment or a helpful hint. He will be truly missed and remembered with fondness by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Jeffrey's family. Paul and I are five year Floridians --- and Jeff was one of the first beach people we met. Because we were waiting for our home to be built - we filled our days by heading to Manasota beach - and we went quite often. When you go to the beach that often you always notice the "in crowd". Jeff was one in a large group and we noticed that he was always the one that sat quietly --- but that being said, if you knew Jeff you also know that sitting quietly does not mean that he missed anything that was going on around him! We were very impressed that he always offered help to kids that were struggling with bait fish, or us older folks with reeling in a string-ray - or just reassuring the crowd that scurrying off the beach because a large black cloud wasn't really necessary, because it was going to pass by without a problem (and it always did). Jeff was a man with a good heart and we are proud to be able to say we knew him. He will be missed very much.

First,we would like to send out our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to all of Jeff Houchin's family. He was and is a unique personality with a big and caring heart. Jeff was a long time friend of ours and is already greatly missed. We shared many a good time together at our home or his but, mostly at the beach. We joked and laughed all the time and usually over nothing. Cheryl saying ' I'm hungrey!', and Cliff always talking about something we had already talked about. There was always a set way we would sit at the beach in a row. Cliff,Cheryl, and Jeff. If someone would sit in Cheryl's place she would let them know and ask them to move so that she could sit next to him. Cliff and Jeff spent the most time at the beach together and became best of friends. There are so many memories we will never be able to replace or forget. Just know that Jeffrey will always be in our memory at the beach. Once again Jeff will be greatly and sadly missed since no one could take his place. He will live on in our memory of good times and laughter, always.
Love, best friends,
Cliff, Cheryl, and Clifford Fisher

To Jeff's Family,
I was so very sorry to see this notice. Many years ago Jeff did a very big favor for my me & my husband--and never even hesitated when asked. I didn't know him very well, but I know that he was kind to us & I will never forget it. He is certainly too young to be gone so soon. My sincere sympathy to his children.
