JoAnn (Salberg) Cristea, 98, of Schererville, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025.
She was born June 9, 1927, in Gary, Indiana, to Louis and Sidonia (Rotenberg) Litz. On August 10, 1947, in Gary, she married Leland Salberg who preceded her in death and later in Valparaiso, Indiana, she married Rello Cristea who also preceded her in death.
JoAnn is survived by her sons, Dr. Larry (Roberta) Salberg, Dr. Richard (Lauri) Cristea, and Attorney Jeffrey David (Tracy) Salberg; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She worked for her sons as an office manager for many years. Earlier on in her life she was a member of the theatre guild in Valparaiso and enjoyed dancing. Graveside services will be at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, August 19th at Graceland Cemetery (Temple Israel Section). Rabbi Shoshana Feferman will officiate.
