John Kronland Obituary
June 10, 1938 - July 11, 2023
Kronland, John J. passed away peacefully on July 11, 2023 at age 85. Born in East Chicago, John served in the Army Reserves after graduating from Roosevelt High School. He worked his entire career as a millwright at DuPont in East Chicago. In 1961 he married Deanna (Napiwocki) and together they raised three children, moving to Chesterton in the early 1970s.
John was an avid fisherman, active in the Northwest Indiana Steelheaders Club for many years. In his retirement he took up woodworking - but what he really loved most was driving. John could be seen on a given day in his trusty pick-up, on his way to his favorite diner or with his canine best friend riding shotgun. Many in town remember his beloved Jake and Junior (RIP), and Suzi (who survives).
John is preceded in death by parents John H. and Helen Kronland, sister Sally Trinks and brother, Brian Kronland. He is survived by wife of 61 years, Deanna; brothers Norb (Mary Ann), Wally (Renee) and sister-in-law Lou Ann Kronland; children Jennifer (Denny) Bennett, Tom (Tara) Kronland and Bill Kronland; eight grandchildren: Page, Nate and Bella Bennett; Zachary, Chelsae and Isabel Kronland; and Bridget and Phoebe Kronland.
John was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Services at a later date.
