John Targett Obituary

John "Jack" Targett, Sr. of Crown Point, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025. Jack was born October 22, 1934, in Gary, Indiana. He graduated from Lew Wallace in 1952, then went on to Purdue University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engineering. On June 4, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart Anita. In 1956 he went to work at United States Steel Corporation in Gary where he was a loyal employee for thirty years. After retiring in 1986 he then provided private consulting services for the steel industry.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anita: his parents: Robert and Edith (nee Piper); his brother, Bob; and his son, Jack, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Maria; son, Joe (Mary); his beloved grandchildren: Jack and Mia; sister, Martha; sister-in-law, Barbara; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Geisen Cremation and Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, Indiana 46307, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by short service. Internment at Calumet Park Cemetery, 2305 73rd Ave., Merrillville, Indiana 46410.
