Joseph "Joe" Carl Kasper

Joseph "Joe" Carl Kasper, 76, of Crown Point, Ind., passed away peacefully at home.

He is survived by his brothers, Mark Kasper of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jim Kasper of Huntington, Ind.; niece, Katherine "Katie" Kasper of Crown Point, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Rita Kasper; his brother, Jerome P. Kasper; and his sister, Clare (Spencer) Seims.

Joe retired from U.S. Steel after 35 years of dedicated service and went on to share his knowledge as an instructor at Purdue University Calumet for 17 years. He was also actively involved in his community through many organizations. Joe was a proud member of the Gary Sportsman Club, Supervisors Club, Community Bridge Club, Hardway Investors, and the U.S. Steel Retiree Golf Group. He was also a member of St. Michael's Church in Schererville, Indiana.

Outside of his professional life, Joe was known for his love of golf and served as an avid golfer throughout his life. He was a gambler and blackjack dealer, a wine connoisseur, and a passionate stock market enthusiast. He also enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Bears and Blackhawks.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, Ind. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 1 W. Wilhelm Street, Schererville, Ind. Rev. Robert Ross Officiating. Interment will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Indiana. A luncheon will be held at Innsbrook Country Club following the burial.
