I have wonderful memories of Danny and Michael including me on Friday nights with their dad at special meals. I owe Danny a great deal as he taught me how to be a priest to young people and I remember Michael cleaning up outside Dr. Wadas’ East Chicago office the Monday after he graduated from Noll. Thank you and be peaceful.

To the entire Mis Family; What great respect and admiration I have for your Husband and father, as I am sure thousands of others have been able to express to you in your sorrow. He is the kindest, most helpful, and generous person that influenced my career in the early years when I was lucky enough to be a part of Danny and Michael's successes in High School. Mr. Mis raised the best children, but also raised the best community in Hammond and expanded to the Region and the State. He was a mentor to me and I will forever appreciate his caring and sharing of his thoughts, and efforts to make everyone around him better at whatever they did. He gave opportunities to thousands to use their talents and abilities, no mater what level of expertise. I thank God for sending Joe Mis to all of us who knew him. I wish I could be there to celebrate his life, but all I can do is express my sorrow and thankfulness to his family. I especially send my caring and sharing emotions to Danny and Michael, two of the all-time best kids that BNI has given to this world. The Mis family, led by Mr. Mis, makes this World a better place. His passing is our loss, Heaven's gain. I pray he continue to look over his family and friends. Joe Mis is the best!

My sincere condolences to the family of Joe Mis. He will be truly missed for his contributions to our community and his love of track and field. Joe coached and was able to channel life skills to the young people that participated in The Hammond Track Club. It was an honor to know and work with Joe and his track program over the years. May Joe Rest in Heaven!

Joe was a great mentor, coach, director, and one of my biggest fans during my AAU years with the Hammond track club in the 80’s. I drove from Hebron to work out at Hammond Morton HS several times a week in the summer. Joe recognized my ability to run and jump fairly well in many events. Thus, he introduced me to the heptathlon. He encouraged me and pushed me to be a better athlete. When I won the Indiana woman AAU athlete of the year (1987) , Joe was by my side. I felt that he deserved the award as much as I did. Getting a scholarship to run Division 1 track and field at Ball State University was a dream come true. As a small town young girl, I may of not had much exposure without the AAU program. When Joe asked me to join the team, I had a coach, (a stranger), that believed that I could be great. I credit Joe with helping me achieve my goals. And most of all believing that this young farm girl from Hebron/ Lowell HS could be successful. RIP Joe, gone but never have I forgotten the impact that you had on my life. I could never thank you enough. And NOW , I am glad to know that you are a Cubs fan. !!! ❤
