Josephine Bailey Obituary
Josephine Joy Bailey (nee Destro), age 72, of Crown Point, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, with family by her side. Josephine is survived by four children: Kimberly Ann Bailey, Juliana Bailey (Ronnie) Rospond, Anthony Destro Bailey, and Leslie Marie Bailey all of Crown Point; granddaughter, Anjellica Josephine Rospond; sister, Virginia (Terry) Cook and their children: Anastasia and Christopher. Preceded in death by parents: Thomas and Mary Destro; son, Matthew Thomas Bailey. Josephine was a lifelong devout Catholic and attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She dedicated 27 years as a Director of Public Housing. In 2008, she retired as the Director of the South Chicago YMCA Senior Housing. Josephine was a contributor to St. Jude Children's Hospital, the Veteran's Association, and many other charitable organizations. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth Seton Academy and St. Elizabeth College in Convent, NJ. Josephine enjoyed literature, art, travel and the theatre. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre (two blocks east of Broadway) at 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN. Funeral prayers will be said Friday, April 27, 2012 at 10:15 AM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre, Crown Point, IN followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 Joliet St., Crown Point, IN with Fr. Pat Kalich officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital. I remember going over to Joy's house and feeling the energy and love she had for her childeren and people in general. She did a fantastic job raising 4 beautiful children. She will be missed.
