JOSHUA DAVID "OPIE" OVERMYER VALPARAISO, IN Joshua David "Opie" Overmyer, 26, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014. He was born April 10, 1988 in Valparaiso, graduated from Valparaiso High School in 2006 and attended Ivy Tech College. Josh was currently a Machinist with NICTD. He enjoyed hunting, particularly ducks, had fun playing the guitar and drums, and had a gift for being able to put a smile on everyone's faces around him. Josh believed that life was meant to be enjoyed. He will be greatly missed! Survivors include his parents, Daniel and Diane Overmyer of Valparaiso; brother, Jeremy (Chelsea) Overmyer of Elkhart; and his nephew, Alix. Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents. A funeral service will be held Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with burial following at Angelcrest Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. MoellerFuneralHome.com

Wow, its been many years since I've seen Josh or his family, but my heart broke when I read about his passing on. He was way too young to go! My deepest love and sympathy to everyone who knew Josh, particularly to Josh's parents and brother! I'm so sorry for the loss. I hope time helps heal the hurt.

Opie you were my brother's best friend and like a little brother to me. You babysat my kids with Erich many times. My kids loved you. You were part of the family and attended Tuesday night dinners at grandma Linda's. You made me smile and laugh every time I saw you. I remember you fixing my window.
