Peter Romaniak Obituary
Peter J. Romaniak, age 80, of Hammond, IN passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025.
He is survived by his loving sister, Patricia (Joseph) Szany; nieces, Jill (John) Lowe, Becky (Mark) Kelleher, Jennifer (Brent) Duncan; as well as great-nieces and nephews: Nora, Jack, Casey, Lucy and Brendan Lowe, Zoe and Annie Duncan, Paula Gratt, Steven Romaniak, Barbara Dobrzeniecki, Tom Brady and Nancy Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Romaniak; siblings, Joseph (Genevieve) Romaniak, Joan Marie Romaniak, and Valerie (Tom) Brady.
For over 50 years, Peter attended the Paladin Community Day Service Center, where he took great joy in the many workshops, crafts, and field trips. He also enjoyed his time with the Wabash Center Supported Living Program. Peter was a man of faith who loved going to church, and his extended family at St. John Bosco Parish held a special place in his heart.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 10, 2025 DIRECTLY at St. John Bosco Church, 7113 Columbia Avenue, Hammond, IN with Fr. Ivan Acatorre officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 9:30 AM until time of Mass. Burial will be held on Friday, October 10 at 12:00 PM directly at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paladin.networkforgood.com. or wabashcenter.com.
Peter will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to his family, and the love he shared with all who knew him.

Peter was such an exceptional guy. His wit and funny personality will definitely be missed. I had the pleasure and was blessed to know him while working at the West Center of LCAR and then The Arc. Him and Sister Joan were so funny together and brought a smile to our faces every day. May God bless your family and prayers of comfort for you all.
