Karen A. Kalwasinski

KAREN A. KALWASINSKI (nee JUREWICZ) MUNSTER, IN Karen A. Kalwasinski (nee Jurewicz), age 65, of Munster, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. She was born on October 8, 1951 in Chicago, IL, to the late John and Rita (Kraemer) Jurewicz. She is survived by her beloved husband, Stan; her two loving sons: Jack (Jeri Lynn) Kalwasinski and Matt (Mandy) Kalwasinski; her four cherished grandchildren: Delanie Ann, Kasey Rae, Christopher Cash and Rylie Lyn; her sisters: Kathy (Tom) Weinberger and Sue (Al) Boryszewski; her sister-in-law, Donna Kalwasinski; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Karen went to Queen of Martyrs School in Evergreen Park, IL, Academy of Our Lady High School in Chicago (Class of 1969) and University of Illinois, Circle Campus, in Chicago (Class of 1973). Earning her Master's Degree, she worked full-time as a school teacher (primarily first grade), working for Dolton School District 149 and teaching at Diekman School in Dolton, IL and New Beginnings Learning Academy in South Holland, IL before retiring in 2013 after teaching 27 years. Karen enjoyed collecting Hallmark ornaments and tending to her flowers in the summer. She loved vacation trips to the beach in North Carolina and, most of all, her grandchildren. Wake hours will be on Sunday, March 19, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN, with a Vigil Service at 2:30 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 9:15 a.m. with prayers, from the funeral home, on Monday, March 20, 2017, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 8501 Calumet Ave Munster, IN.
