Kenneth Genovese Obituary

Kenneth Genovese

Oct 30, 1939 - Jun 17, 2025

Kenneth Joseph Genovese passed away peacefully on the afternoon of June 17, 2025. He was born on October 30, 1939, to John and Doris Genovese in Hebron, Indiana.

As a child, he helped his father on the farm and graduated from Boone Grove High School in 1958. At 18, he found work at McGill Manufacturing, where he remained employed for the next fifty years. He married the love of his life and his best friend, Gwen Holmgren, in 1962. They would remain joyfully inseparable until her death in 2019. A dedicated husband, father, and friend, Ken was the hardest of workers and never happier than when he could do something to help someone else. He never stopped learning, laughing, or being curious about the world and how things work. He enjoyed the outside and was most satisfied enjoying the fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and corn he had grown. He loved sports and played golf right up until the end.

Ken is survived by his daughter, Kendy and her partner, Stuart, of LaPorte, IN. There will be no services at this time. Donations in his honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org or the VNA Hospice at 501 Marquette St., Valparaiso, IN 46383. Arrangements entrusted to Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Chesterton, IN. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.ee-fh.com.

Ken loved cowboys and horses his entire life, and often sang Gene Autry. In his memory, we ask you to play "Happy Trails".

It is with extreme sadness that that I remember my brother Ken. He was the best. I was seven years younger. I do not remember him ever complaining he had to take me with him. He was extremely happy supporting everyone around him. I will miss him every day.
