Larry Frame Obituary

Larry L. Frame

April 20, 1947 - Jan. 16, 2024

ST. JOHN, IN - Larry L. Frame, 76 of St. John passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pam Frame; his son, Paul (Kristy) Frame who was his pride and joy, and his beloved sisters: Margaret (Patrick) Scardina, Linda Badgett, Ann (Lanny) Long, Darla Frame, and Pammie (Jimmy) Kirby, along with several adored nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Catherine Frame and sister, Carol (Benny) Riley.

Larry was born April 20, 1947 in a "holler" in Sutton, WV. His people settled in West Virginia living hard full lives where family trumps all. A belief he held all his life.

Larry was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy proudly serving during the Vietnam era as a Gunner's Mate on the LST USS York County. He enlisted at 17 years of age and looked back fondly on his time in the Navy as a life-shaping experience that took him around the world. He was Honorably Discharged in 1968 and moved to Alexandria, VA where he met his future wife, Pam, on February 14, 1969, in a snowball fight. After dating a short time they married in 1970 and remained married until his passing. He wouldn't say it to her but he told his son how much he appreciated her who he called a "life-saver" recognizing the profound impact she had on his life during the 53 years they were married. They moved to Indiana in 1970 and had a son in 1981.

Larry had a variety of jobs including working for many years as an auto salesman and was so loved and trusted by his customers they followed him to any dealerships where he worked.

His mind was a steel trap for facts. He was not wishy-washy if he believed in something. If he believed something, it was the product of him thinking about it, coming to a conclusion, and then protecting it. Once he decided he liked something, he liked that thing for life. The things he liked most were playing card games, bowling, and spending time with close family, including his son and daughter in law and sisters. To his wife's chagrin, Larry could not often be beaten at Rummy.

Listening to music was his passion from an early age. Blues, Country, and Rock n' Roll provided the soundtrack to his life. He used songs like hymns for teaching moral lessons to his son. The Beatles were his favorite band from the moment he heard them but he preferred the middle period of their music the most. Bowling was also his passion and bowled every chance he could bowling in multiple leagues per week for most of his adult life. He bowled in a Saturday night league with is wife, sister and brother in law for nearly 50 years. Larry was also a sports fan and liked many teams during his life including the Pittsburg Pirates, and Chicago Bulls and Bears but his heart belonged to the West Virginia Mountaineers.
