Leona Dombey Obituary

Leona (Lee) Maryann Dombey

Mar 21, 1944 - Dec 28, 2024

PORTAGE, IN-Leona Dombey, 80, of Portage, Indiana passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Leona was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Bruce. She is survived by her two daughters, Erica Dombey and Vanessa Lynch (Mike); and her grandsons, Nate Pierce and Grant Dombey Passauer; and her granddaughters, Brooklyn Brown and Grace Brown. Leona's brother, Alan Bacon (Marge); and sister, Mary Hutton (Bob) also survive. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Bonner and Barbara Walker; as well as her parents, Hollis and Leona Bacon.

Leona graduated from River Forest High School and from Purdue University Westville with a Bachelor of Arts in Management. She spent her career in the title industry, working for Ticor Title and First American Title before retiring in 2009. Her favorite place to be was in the kitchen, cooking up traditional American meals and baking every kind of cookie known to man. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting, music and theater events. Most recently, she resided at Avalon Springs Health Campus in Valparaiso, where she became very good friends with Ella Karris and Becky Graef, with whom she played BINGO and cards and enjoyed many meals and long talks.

Leona requested direct cremation without public services. In lieu of this, the family asks you to consider a gift to the VNA Hospice of NWI, 501 Marquette Street, Valparaiso IN 46383, who were so amazing and kind in taking care of both Bruce and Lee.
