Margaret "Marnie" Wilke

MARGARET MARTIN WILKE (NEE WHITE) MUNSTER, IN Margaret Wilke "Marnie" of Munster, IN, born May 2, 1913 in Schenectady, NY, daughter of Eleanor Fish White and Arthur White, passed away October 2, 2008. She is survived by her children: Mary E. Myer of West Chazy, NY and Steven Arthur (Carol) Martin of Abington, PA; two grandchildren: Dr. Tracey Anne Gepry and Dr. Kenneth Edwin Martin; also three step children: Peter (Nancy) Wilke, Rev. Fr. David Wilke and Lynn (Steve) Bolanowski; six step grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husbands: Frank Edwin Martin and William Peter Wilke III; one brother, Phil Martin; two sisters: Ruth Brockway and Elizabeth Gere. Margaret attended Ithaca Conservatory of Music which is now Ithaca College before graduating from Cornell University. She received her Master's Degree in Library Science from Syracuse University. She was the Chief Librarian of The Engineering Library at Cornell University. Margaret was a 75-year member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and its Bell Choir, a member of PEO, Northern Indiana Arts Association and American Needlepoint Guild. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 8955 Columbia Ave., Munster, IN. Burial will take place in Spencer, NY. Memorial donations to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Humane Society of the Calumet Area or the Boy Scouts of America Calumet Council in her memory would be appreciated.
