Mari B. Kish Barney

Mari B. Kish Barney (nee Huha) Hammond/Portage Mari B. Kish Barney (nee Huha), 72, left us to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at Portage Community Hospital, Portage, IN. She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Mari (Mike) Flatt of Portage, IN; two grandchildren, Mike Flatt II and Nichole Mari Flatt, both of Portage, IN; three sisters, Annie Huha of East Chicago, IN, Lisa Strehle of West Virginia and Dorothy Kadas of East Chicago, IN; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Kish and Susan (late Daniel) Kish, both of Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Harry M. Kish, in 1989, her husband of four years, Edward R. Barney, in 1999, her father, Very Rev. Basil Huha in 1978, and her mother, Pani Mary Huha in 1986. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2004 at 9:30 AM from Descent of the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church, 545 E. 77th Ave., Schererville, IN with Rev. Father Lev Holowaty officiating. Burial, Holy Ghost Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN. Panachida services will be Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Mari was a resident of this area for 55 years, a member of Descent of the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church, Schererville, IN, the Ladies Altar Society of the church, and was employed as a secretary for Hammond Mayors, Edward Raskosky, Thomas McDermott, Sr. and Duane Dedelow, Jr. "Vicnaja Pamjat", Memory Eternal. 219-845-3600
