Mark Svetic Obituary

Mark Thomas Svetic, 79 of Dyer, IN passed away peacefully Sunday August 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Mark was born September 14, 1945, in Hammond, IN to Mark and Katherine Svetic.

Mark was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Cecilia Maurath Svetic; daughter, Melinda Grzych; and grandchildren, Lauren and Matthew Grzych. Stepchildren, Yvette and Steve Lazaroff, Ryan Guillen and Byron Williams; step grandchildren, Mason and Evan Lazaroff, and his loyal canine companion, Oreo. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon and brother-in-law, Joey Marchlenski. Special cousins, Pat and Bud Jones, Kathy Adams; and dear friend Nancy Weber.

Mark graduated from Wheeling Central Catholic High School and Indiana University. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Mark was a manager for AAA Insurance and All Sure Insurance and was owner of Cars Are Us car dealership in Dyer. Mark was also a member of St. Maria Goretti Parish and held leadership positions in Helpmates. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on and collecting old cars.

Visitation will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 8178 Cline Ave., Crown Point, IN.

August 29, 2025, 10 a.m. until funeral service at 1 p.m.
