David Fry and your girls,
I just received an e-mail about the One of a Kind Art show in Chicago. I immediately went to see if Marla was going to be there. I purchased one of her large flower windows last year. Each and every time I look at it I do smile! I was so saddened to hear the horrible news about Marla. Always remember how much pleasure your wife and mother gave so many people. I will always think of her as I smile.

Nothing I can say will bring Mrs. Fry back, but I do give you my friendship through this painful time. She was, and always will be a light. We love you all!

Family:
I am so sad to hear about this tragic loss. Marla and I would visit at art shows and were recently discussing my upcoming summer purchase from her. Her work was so eye catching and from the heart. She was a huge heart and that showed through her passion, family and work. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and 2 precious children.

Dear Dave, Anna and Maisy - Dan, Madeline, Aidan and I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with all of you and Sharon & Patty at the Children's Museum over the Thanksgiving Holiday. You have been in our thoughts and prayers since we heard the news. I have always thought the world of you, Dave, and did so even more upon meeting your family. Marla has inspired so many people in so many ways through her art and her willingness to reach out at the elementary school, countless ways I am sure we are not even aware of.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and will be so for years to come.

We are so, so saddened by the tragic news. We only knew her through visits to her booths at art shows and the three pieces we have of hers. Marla and David remembered us, and the stories we told about what we were going to do with the pieces we bought. She was a wonderful woman whom we both regret not knowing better in our lives.

"Marly Fry. Why do I know that name?" It was my first thought. And then I knew. No. Not her. Not Marla. Such a fantastic woman and a beloved client of Dr. Gast and staff. Words cannot ever begin to describe what all her family must be feeling. I was (and still am) so haunted by such a tragedy. I've had the pleasure of mingling with Marla at least a time or two and am so glad I have. She provided her own little "window" into her wonderful world and I feel especially fortunate to have gotten a peek through it. It was always that smile. You have no choice but to smile along with her; it was so infectious. I pray for peace, strength, and comfort for the Fry family. Her love will always live on.

My heart is heavy today since hearing of Marla's passing. I always admired her work when I saw it at art fairs. A few years ago, my husband bought one of her pieces and I still admire it each and every day. Since then, I have constantly thought about buying another piece as Marla's whimsical, positive personality was exuded through her art.
Her passion for art was obvious to anyone she met and her legacy will live on in the homes of her many fans. I feel blessed to have met her.

"That's a great shirt!" was the first thing a sweaty yet smiling Marla Fry ever said to me. "Future Cub Fan" said the six-month bump. So, like me, she clearly had no taste in baseball teams and I told her so. I knew two things that day: I was going to have one of her joyful pieces of art on our baby's unfinished nursery wall and that this girl, Marla, was the kind every person wants for a friend; a ball of energy and light. And sweetness. I kept her card on the dresser. We ended up having another girl. When we went to pick our piece, it was tough to choose. Marla said, "Why don't I do something that shows her with that dolly she obviously loves so much. I could make her blond and I could put her name on one of the big flowers!" It is perfect. Marla was so intuitive. I can say with honesty that every other day Finnleigh wakes up saying in her yawn, "That's me!" Yes, it is. You, hopeful and walking in sunshine. Thanks to Marla. Thank you, Marla, you are forever. And not just on the wall. Marla is the kind who stays in the heart.
Marla gave so much to us, I can only begin to imagine how much she gave to you, her family, by whom all of her work was inspired. May you feel her enduring love for you always.

I loved Marla's art, I always wanted to buy a piece for my daughter's room, but never had the chance. I am so sorry for your loss, she was an inspiring woman and her life was ended too soon.

I am deeply saddened by Marla's passing. Though only meeting her a couple times, she has touched my families' life through her art; encouraging my neices to not be afraid to try new things. Thanks to Marla, my neice entered the Porter County 4-H art exhibition two years in a row with a painted glass project. I too, am honored to have one of Marla's pieces hanging in my home.
My condolences to the family...I pray you can find comfort in knowing Marla's love and passion for art and children have made a remarkable impact on so many people.

I am deeply saddened to hear about Marla. My sympathies to David, Anna, Maisy, Elinor and Leslie. The last time I saw Marla was at Leslie's Bat Mitzvah--she must have been seven then. I remember her mostly as a toddler with her big eyes and curly hair. I'm sorry I never got a chance to meet her as an adult because it sounds like she was a wonderful person.
May her memory be a blessing. Take care during this difficult time.

My heart is so sad. Marla was a shining light and one of my best friends in college. Though we lost touch for a while, we reconnected recently and I was so looking forward to a visit this summer and giving my dear friend a big hug. My heart goes out to all her family. She really was a ray of sunshine, and we shared some truly memorable moments. I know her light will shine on in her daughters and everyone who loved her.

David,My husband and I were deeply shocked and saddened to hear about the recent passing of Marla. We had the pleasure of meeting her last summer at an artfair in Buffalo Grove Ill.We were taken in by her warm personality, smile and her love for her art. At the time we were late for a family party and told her we would see her at another show and gave her our email. Marla invited us to her One of a kind show last Dec. We attended the show but when we got to her booth you had said we just missed her. I was dissapointed that we didn't get to talk to her but we got to meet you and had a lovely time talking with you and picking out the perfect painting for us. It was hard for me to make a decision because they were all so wonderful. You even went to the car to bring us a few more to look at. We were so excited about our art piece that you took a picture of us holding our painting,I noticed you put it on Marla's websight. That painting brings joy to my heart and a smile on my face everytime I look at it,and unfortunatley now it has even greater meaning to us. David We send you our deepiest and most sincere condolences to you and your girls and family. It's amazing that I only had 30 min.talking with Marla but she touch my heart forever. I can only imagine how much she meant to all of you. May her memory always be with you. You and your family are in our prayers.
Sincerly, Abby And Eric Hirsh,

I went to Camp Tavor with Marla and have such fond memories of her humor and kindness. Somewhere I have a picture from 1984 of us on the last morning of camp. Somehow, even after staying up all night, we were fresh faced and beautiful (could it be have been youth and joy?). I always wondered what she went on to do and am so pleased to see that she went on to have a lovely family. I'm also so sorry to learn (on the same day) of her untimely death. She had a special spark andI think those of us who did know her were really lucky to have been touched by it. It's been well over 20 years since I've seen her and I can still feel some of that magic... My condolences go to her family and friends, especially her children. I am so sorry you had to lose her now. It really sucks.
