Maureen Ritchie Obituary

MAUREEN E. RITCHIE SCHERERVILLE, IN
Maureen E. Ritchie, 79, of Schererville, passed away Wednesday May 25, 2011. Maureen tended her children, grandchildren, family and friends as she did the flowers in her garden, protecting them with her love, weeding out what would cause them harm, watering them with her tears, and bringing them light with her smile so all remained strong and with her as did her beloved perennials. She loved gardening and sewing, making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and winning many awards at fairs for her quilts and christening gowns. Maureen is survived by her children: Dennis (Cathy) Ritchie, Mary (Larry) Sokolowski, Ken Joe Ritchie, John Andy (Jody) Ritchie, and Laurie (David) Smith; grandchildren: Dr. Angela and Kaitlin Ritchie, Aaron and Kevin Sokolowski, Andrew, Timmy and Emma Ritchie, and Meghan and Lindsey Smith; her beloved pet, Lacy; sister, Bonnie Powell; honorary daughter, Annette Horgash; special friends: Dorothy (James) Jansen, Betty (Herman) Young, and Hildie Scott; and many close relatives and friends. Preceded in death by husband, Kenneth; mother, Ora Hill; and brother, Bud Blaney. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2011 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave., St. John, IN with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Church, Schererville, with Rev. Martin Dobrzynski officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. with a wake service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. www.fagenmiller.com
