Michael Hendrixson Obituary
Michael L. Hendrixson, age 35, of Wanatah, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Michael was born August 2, 1977 in Valparaiso to Marvin and Lela Hendrixson. He graduated in 1997 from Valparaiso High School and spent his life as a firefighter. He worked for Cass Clinton Volunteer Fire Department. Michael married Heather Garwood Hendrixson on August 30, 2004. He was a member of the SAL, Son's of the American Legion, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Michael is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Heather Hendrixson; their two daughters: Avery Hendrixson and Addison Hendrixson of Wanatah; his mother, Lela Hendrixson of Valparaiso; two sisters: Cheryl Daras (husband Mike) of Indianapolis and Debbie Givens (husband Ernie) of Valparaiso; mother-in-law, Tricia Wozniak of Wanatah; father-in-law, Bruce Garwood (wife Becky) of Michigan City; sister-in-law, Sarah Garwood of Wanatah; brother-in-law, Christopher Garwood (wife Leslie) of LaCrosse; seven nieces and nephews: Brandon Givens, Ernie Givens, Elisa Daras (fiance Blaine), Katie Daras, Claire Garwood, Ben Garwood, and Zoey Garwood; several extended family members; and all of his firefighter brothers. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Hendrixson; and a nephew, Zane Garwood. A Catholic Funeral Mass to celebrate Michael's life will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Christian Church of Wanatah, 1100 W. Highway 30, Wanatah, IN 46390, with Father Jerry Schweitzer officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN. Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Christian Church of Wanatah, with the Indiana Volunteer Fireman's Association to do Final Call Ceremony at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also gather one hour prior to services Monday, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Christian Church of Wanatah. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family in care of Heather Hendrixson, at 1505 Morthland Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46385. I never saw you without a smile on your face; I don't even think you've had a bad day, and if you did you didn't show it. As kids growing up and going to northview elementary school, you always had a personality that people just clinged to. Bro,a BIG part of me was lost when you slipped away. Even though you were loved and needed her with us the Lord has a bigger plan for you. I just wish I could understand it. I LOVE and MISS you so very much. Things just will NEVER be the same without your presence, but I will give it my all because I know thats the way you would have wanted it. Not only were you my HERO on earth you chose so unselfishly to give your body to others whom are very sick so they could live on. I was with you the whole way. Thats my HERO, thats MY BRO.
