Michael Lutz Obituary
Michael Don Lutz, 33 of Chicago, IL, formerly of Biggsville, IL, died Wednesday August 21, 2013 in Columbus, IN. He was born February 27, 1980 in Burlington, IA, the son of Richard Michael and Rosemary Lee Isaacson Lutz. On October 24, 2009, he married Courtney Ann Canale in Dyer, IN. Michael was a 1998 graduate of Union High School in Biggsville, an received his Bachelor's degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL in 2002. He was currently the National Sales Manager for Cosco Company. Michael was a member of the Phi Omega Phi Fraternity, and the Stronghurst Presbyterian Church. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family and many friends. Survivors include his wife, Courtney; one daughter, Emma Rose Lutz, at home; his father, Richard (Susan) Lutz of Biggsville; two brothers: Tyler (Tiffany) Lutz of Sterling, IL and Nathan (fiancee Maggie Hasan) Lutz of Elgin, IL; one step brother, Joshua (Lindsey) Higgins of Olivehurst, CA; two step sisters: Stephanie (fiance Kenny Bell) Higgins of Kirkwood, IL, Gretchen Higgins of Biggsville, IL; his grandmother, Emily Lutz of Lindenhurst, IL; his in-laws: Pete and Marcia Canale, of Crown Point, IN; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Lutz; and grandparents: Milford and Nancy Isaacson, and Raymond Lutz. The funeral service for Michael Lutz will be held a 10:00 a.m. Monday August 26, 2013 in the Stronghurst Presbyterian Church with Pastor Phil Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Biggsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, IL. A memorial fund has been established for the education of his daughter. Condolences may be left at banksandbeals.com.

My heart breaks with the news of Mike. I knew him at Augustana and was always excited to see him. He was a great guy. We always talked about the wonderful Biggsville area and felt a sense of home away from home when we talked. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, especially his wife and daughter. I worked with Michael at Sanford and am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He was one hell of a guy and will definitely be missed. He had such a great personality and was always so witty. I don't know Courtney, but I always remember him getting a big smile on his face when he spoke of her. We teased him and called you "Courtney Love" because he was so smitten. :) I am so sorry for your loss. Heaven definitely gained a wonderful angel.
