VALPARAISO, IN - Nancy L. Miller, 88 of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023. She was born August 8, 1935 in Jackson, MI to the late James and Florence (Spear) Burke. After raising her four children and getting them off to school, Nancy worked for Merrillville Schools from 1969-1993, working at John Wood Elementary and retiring from the High School. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and family was the most important part of her life.
On June 19, 1954, Nancy married John M. Miller who survives along with their children, Linda (Mike) Schieb, Michael Miller, Denise Miller, and Annette (Mark) Ritzi; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Bill Burke.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 at 10:00 AM directly at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church 509 W. Division Rd., Valparaiso, with a burial of ashes at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the VNA Hospice Center of NWI. Moeller Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.

I met Nancy in 1962. Working with John at U.S. Steel, I was invited to their New Years Eve party, 12/31/1962. My first impression of Nancy was of a conservative and soft-spoken lady. And she was. Our paths crossed periodically over the next several years, and I last saw her about two or three years ago. She was quite frail, but still the same person I had met sixty years ago. You begin to think that some things will last forever, until they don't. I offer my condolence To John and the children as they grieve the loss of their wife and mother. I will keep her memory with me for the rest of my days.

What fond memories of his lovely lady. Loved the Crusaders and John's personal candy concession. She is in our prayers as is the whole Miller family.
