Norma B. Hamilton

NORMA B. HAMILTON FORMERLY OF GARY, IN Norma B. Hamilton, 96, of New Carlisle, IN, formerly of Gary, passed away on Saturday October 24, 2009, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN. She was born on November 2, 1912 to the late Raymond and Elva Sempsrote. In 1932, she married Howard Hamilton, who preceded her in death on April 23, 1993. Norma lived in Gary most of her life except the 28 years she lived in Lake Wales, FL. She moved in 2002 to New Carlisle to be near her daughter, Sharon Elliott and family. Norma is survived by her daughters: Darlene (Lou) Mikolics of Hobart and Sharon (Joe) Elliott of New Carlisle; sons: Keith (Coral) of Valparaiso, Kenneth (Karen) of Rose Lawn, Donnie (Fran) of Sauk Village, IL, and Robert and Randy (Lois) Hamilton, both of Gary; 23 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marge Sempsrote of Robinson, IL. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Hamilton; a daughter, Janet Tarnow; two granddaughters: Tina Sikes and Misty Hurley; a grandson, James Kempe; one great grandson, Riley Hamilton; two sisters: Eileen Kelly and Gena Winders; and brother, Jack Sempsrote. Norma worked in sales for Stanley Home Products and Queensway Clothing, both of Gary. She was a member of the Black Oak Church of Christ for 31 years and the Shady Hammock Methodist Church, Indian Lakes, FL for over 25 years. Following cremation, a memorial service for Norma will be held on Saturday November 7, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Black Oak Church of Christ, 2844 Stevenson Street, Gary, IN.
