Patricia Lane Obituary

Patricia Lane

Oct 28, 1943 - Nov 7, 2025

Patricia E. "Pat" Lane, 82, of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025.

She was born October 28, 1943, in Valparaiso to Clarence W. and Meriam G. (Anderson) Hurley and graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1961.

Pat built a career in Chicago working for an advertising agency, where her creativity, humor, and curiosity stood out. She was a vibrant and outgoing woman who loved spending time with friends and family. Pat never missed a gathering. She was dependable, warm, and always arrived ready to connect with the people she cared about.

She enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and keeping her mind active with word puzzles, games, and crosswords. Her beloved feline companion, Belle, brought her comfort in her later years.

On August 22, 1987, she married Lawrence N. Lane, who preceded her in death on May 9, 2018. Survivors include her stepson, Col. Peter J. (Yonghui) Lane, U.S. Army Retired, of Germany, and grandsons Hunter and A1C Jacob Lane U.S.A.F. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Hurley.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 18th from 9:30–11:00 am at Valparaiso First Presbyterian Church, 3401 Valparaiso St., with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am, Rev. Kimber-lee Adams officiating. Private burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Dunes Hospice.

Yesterday

Dear family,
I knew Pat through the church and resale shop. She was also a good friend of Maggi Alexander, who was a life long friend of mine as well.
She was a good friend to many in their time of need. May you take comfort, peace and strength in knowing she was a wonderful church friend.
