Paul Gomben Obituary
Paul Gomben, 77, passed away February 9, 2012 at his home in Show Low, AZ, following a battle with cancer. Paul was born on November 12, 1934 in Hammond and grew up in Dyer. His parents were Peter Gomben (born Petras Gumbinas) and Erma (West) Gomben. Paul attended Dyer Central H.S. and graduated from Hammond Technical H.S. in 1952. He worked in the rail yards of the Calumet Region, accepted a job with Illinois Bell Telephone Company, then transferred to Indiana Bell Telephone Company in the 1970s. His time with Illinois Bell was interrupted by service in the United States Army in Fort Riley, KS. Paul is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Louise (Kempski) Gomben of Show Low; son, Peter C. Gomben, PhD of Salt Lake City, UT; son, Matthew and daughter-in-law, Cathy (Ortega) Gomben of Libacao, the Philippines; brother, Peter G. Gomben of Beecher, IL; beloved brother-in-law, Donald Kempski of Ocala, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled arrangements.
