RICHARD N. KARR DYER, IN, FORMERLY OF EAST CHICAGO, IN
Richard N. Karr age 87, formerly of East Chicago passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife Mary; children: Greg (Cindy) Karr, Gretchen Horvath, Gail (Mark) Matusik, Georgia (David) Chirtos, Gina (Greg) Bracco, Deborah (George) Sevilis, Martin Karr; grandchildren: Nissa (Jesse) Mechling, Ryan (Lindsey) Karr, Christopher Karr, Erika (Cory) Damm, Sarah (Nick) DeSabatine, Anna (Brandon) Burtsfield, Billy Horvath, Abagail Matusik, Kirsten Kendra, Kelly (Henry) Westmoreland, Zachary Chirtos, Lucia Bracco, Giulio Bracco, Armando Bracco, Adam Karr, Owen Karr; great grandchildren: Jesse Mechling, Anja Mechling, Ryder Karr, Lance Karr, Jett Karr, Ingrid Damm, Lincoln Damm, Nadia DeSabatine, Colson DeSabatine, Dalton DeSabatine, Brody Burtsfield, Eulah Burtsfield, Devon Lewis, Brooklyn Kendra, Trey Westmoreland. Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. directly at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Schererville (77th & Lincolnwood) with Rev. Constantine Aliferakis, officiating. At rest Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to visit with Richard's family on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home, 7607 W. Lincoln Hwy., Schererville (Rt. 30 east of Cline Ave). Trisagion prayer service Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Richard was a retired East Chicago Police Detective, a member of the F.O.P. He was a thoroughbred enthusiast. He owned and raced horses. He fought in Golden Gloves and loved boxing. He was an avid boater and he loved animals.

Very sorry for your loss. I will always have very fond memories of Dick especially growing up way back in the 60's and 70's. He was my mom's (Rita's) favorite cousin and person to be with.

My deepest condolences to Mary and all the Karr children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I was fortunate to have known Richard for more than 40 years and was able to to spend time with him and Mary last fall when I was visiting family in the Region. He will be missed but not forgotten.

I knew Rich as Georgia's dad but he was also a security officer at Sears River Oaks when I worked there. I have fond memories of Rich & all the other great folks I met at Sears. Our condolences to Mary, Georgia, and the entire Karr family.
