CEDAR LAKE, IN - Richard L. McGuire of Cedar Lake, IN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30,2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Gary, IN, on August 19, 1935.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean; daughters: Katherine, Christine (Sam), Patricia; and son, Michael (Susan). He was a proud grandpa to Erin, Kelly, Jack, Julia, Megan, Thomas, and Logan. He also leaves behind his loving sister, Margaret Stahura; sister-in-law, Alice McGuire, and many nieces/nephews. Richard was preceded in death by parents, Martin and Margaret McGuire; and brothers: Thomas, Martin, and Dennis.

Richard grew up on the east side of Gary, IN. He went to St. Luke's and graduated from Emerson H.S. He joined the Army and after proudly serving, worked in the Chem lab at US Steel for 43 yrs. While living in Griffith, he was on the BZA, Police Commissioner, Jaycees, and Knights of Columbus. He was a long-time member of St. Mary's in Griffith and St. Vincent De Paul society. Currently, he was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Cedar Lake, IN. He loved sports, reading, playing cards, going to the YMCA, the History Channel, fishing, spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was a proud Irish man and loved his yearly gatherings with the Friendly Sons of Erin.

Viewing will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Holy Name Catholic Church, 11000 W. 133rd Avenue, Cedar Lake, IN, at 10:00 a.m. A mass service will be held directly afterwards at Holy Name Church at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations to "St. Anthony Majestic Care, Skilled Nursing" 203 W Franciscan Dr., Crown Point, IN, 46307, would be appreciated.
