Richard Swiontek Obituary

RICHARD L. SWIONTEK LANCASTER, PA

Richard L. Swiontek, 78, died at his Lancaster home on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Born in Hobart, IN, he was the son of the late Walter F. and Monafae Cassel Swiontek. Richard and his wife Jane A. Stahl Swiontek were married for 56 years. A graduate of Hammond High School in Hammond, IN, Richard earned his bachelor's degree in engineering from Purdue University. He served in the U.S. Army during the late 1950's to early 1960's. Richard worked as a group leader at R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Richard was a member of the Donnelley Retiree Club. He was past president of the Manheim Township Ambulance Association, had served on the school board, was past president of the Jaycees, and a former boy scout leader and scoutmaster all in Griffith, IN. He was of the Lutheran Faith. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children: Robin Swiontek of Lancaster, PA, Scott, husband of Ann Swiontek of Avon, IN, and Todd, husband of Vickie Swiontek of Lancaster; three grandchildren: Matthew, Amy, and Katie Swiontek; and his sister, Dorothy Leiper of Estes Park, CO. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, with the Rev. Daniel Long officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 1:30 PM. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Manheim Ambulance Association, 1820 Municipal Dr., Lancaster, PA 17601.
