VALPARAISO, IN - Robert B. Ferguson, DVM, 78, of Valparaiso passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021. He was born September 10, 1942 in Ithaca, NY to Donald and Mary (Rowe) Ferguson.
He moved when he was very young to LaGrange, IL, and graduated from Lyons Twp. High School, received a B.S. from Purdue in 1964, and then his DVM from Purdue Veterinary School in 1968.
His proud service with the U.S. Army in Vietnam made him a lifelong patriot. His love of traveling and seeing the world took him and Jo Ann to all seven continents and beyond. His zest for life and his graciousness and kindness drew people to him wherever he went especially when he was wearing his Purdue hat.
At Purdue he married his wife Jo Ann Beaty who survives along with their children: Terri Dobbs of Indianapolis and Scott (Lisa) Ferguson of Valparaiso; sister Jean (Peter) Vaughn of ME; grandchildren: Christopher (Cynthia) Dobbs, Jr., Lindsay Dobbs, Emma, Donna and Bryce Ferguson; and many loving family and friends. Time continues; life indeed goes on; those remaining adapt to another tempo of life; he is definitely missed...but not one thing will ever lessen the power of our memories or the love shared by all those who knew Bob.

Bob will be remembered as s father, son, husband, brother cousin, in law, uncle, grandfather and friend. He was one of those rare people who actually.makes.the world better afterbeing in it. I will forever remember him with that smile,, his willingness to laugh , his true spirit of caring for his family friends, and the kindness and unconditional love he held for his grandchildren. He travelled to many places, but wherever he was, he felt at home because he had a welcoming way about him that drew others to him. Those who knew him benefited greatly; those who did not missed a chance for a great friendship. Jo,,Terri, Scott, Lisa, and kids, I am sorry that he is gone, but so very grateful that he was here.
