Bob,

I miss being able to talk to you on the phone like we used to. I miss your hilarious sense of humor and most of all, I miss giving you a big hug and telling you that I love you! I know you are happy now and in a much better place, but that doesn't stop me from missing you so much. It just tears me up to learn what had happened and how sad it made you, and to know that I wasn't able to be there for you. I am so sorry that you had to suffer like you did. I pray to GOD that HE helps us to cope with our great loss, it just doesn't seem real...I love you and will NEVER forget you, Bob

Dad, it didn't have to end like this. I'm frustrated with you for that. But I love you, and I know that you love me. And I am so so sorry. Please forgive me. I hope we did good, with all of our decisions. We tried to do what you would have wanted. Even through this very difficult time, we were so proud of you. Proud of your commitments, proud of your accomplishments. And don't worry, this isn't over. You have once again helped others, in your death. You have made it possible to save others that are in your similar situation. As your son, I WILL be your voice. I WILL accomplish your final wish. Dad, keep your eyes open.....you'll be reading about your kids soon. I love you and I'm sorry.

My father was a very loved man, loved by not only family members but by friends and everyone else whose lives he touched as well. His death was definately a tragedy that will burn in my heart forever. I want to thank everyone for everything they have done. My father would have been truly honored to know how many people HONESTLY loved him. He will forever be missed and always loved.

I love you daddy.

Bob..This has been the most difficult week of my life. The pain your whole family felt seeing you lie there was indescribable. We all wish there was something we could have done to help you through your pain before it came to this. Even in your death, you were able to bring us all together and make us laugh at the memories we all shared of you. We haven't seen your niece for a very long time, but she showed up and was able to tell her mom and dad how much she loved us. Bob, thank you for all that you did for your family, and the miracles you are still performing. Thank you for all the help you gave us with our children, and all of your nieces and nephews. You will always be proud of them, as we will always be proud to have had you for our big brother. Thanks Bob, God has truly touched all of us by honoring all that knew you by your love and caring. We know you are in heaven now with Dad. You two keep a place open for all of us, we will see you one day. Give Dad a big hug and kiss for us all. Jan

My heart goes out to Bob's family. Though I only knew him for a short while I truly saw him as a very beautiful person inside and out. He could never let you go without smiling. One of the first things he ever teased me about was that I wasn't smiling enough. Bob showed me that things so simple such as a smile not only brightens your outlook but theirs as well. Thank you so much Bob, I am glad to have known you, for you will truly be missed evermore.

I hope it goes without saying that you all are with me in my thoughts and prayers. I didn't just share a part of my life with Bob, I shared it with you all, and my heart breaks for your loss and I wish there was something I could say to ease that pain, but there isn't, I know. All my love to you Rob, Terry, Karry Ann, Jerry, Janice, Luann, Debbie and Joyce... always

Bob was a truly wonderful man. He had a whistle you could hear for a mile, and a heart that reached out so much further than that. When he would tell me, "If you ever need anything, let me know," I could tell it was genuine and sincere, not just empty words. The laughter he brought to a room was contagious. He always had a joke(though not always a good one!) and always did his best to brighten other people's days. I am remembering Bob today with a smile and a tear. The world won't be the same without him.

Bob was a great guy with a great sense of humor and had a family who loved him very much. He will be missed greatly. My sympathy goes out to my two cousins who lost their uncle and to my uncle who lost his brother. I love you guys.

Even though I did not know Officer Furst, my father was a Valparaiso policeman years ago. So, as a policeman's child to another, my heart is filled with sorrow for you and your families.

From the moment I met Bob, I knew how much he cared for his family, his community, and his job. In "his way," he was one of the most loyal persons you could ever know. I'm proud to have known him, and I love him for what kind of man he was, and what he stood for. I'm going to miss his riding up the driveway on his POLICE edition Harley, he and the "Chicken" fully dressed for riding. I'm going to miss you, brother "in-law"!

I can't be there right now to hug and hold my family members in their time of need and I know that words just don't make things any better but I am hoping that my small entry here will let them know how much I care and love them. Bob was such a nice person any time I saw a frown on his face I knew he was getting ready to give me a hard time. He loved to joke with everyone. He had a great sense of humor and a wonderful heart. My first memory of him that stands out is was when I was about 7 and we were having a family gathering and he showed up in his squad car, I thought I was in trouble and they were coming to get me. He picked me up and reasurred me that I could never do any wrong. That was just the kind of person he was. Good souls are hard to find so when you find that one person who has a heart of gold make sure you let them know just how much you care. You will be missed greatly.
