Robert Eugene Sherer

December 22, 1938 - July 25, 2024

Robert Eugene Sherer, 85, of Fishers, passed away at home on July 25, 2024 from pancreatic cancer. Bob was born December 22, 1938 in Kokomo, IN to Harold and Virgil Sherer. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1957 and attended Purdue University receiving his B.S., M.S., and E.D.S. degrees. Bob served in the National Guard. He was employed by Valparaiso Community School Corporation for 44 years as a teacher, coach, principal of Ben Franklin Junior High School, and assistant superintendent of special services. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and woodworking. Family was most important to him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, the mother of Ty and Tami, grandson Brandon Sherer, and great-granddaughter Emory FitzPatrick. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elaine Sherer; his children Ty (Linda) Sherer, Tami (Larry) FitzPatrick, Eric (Jenn) Sherer, Mark (Emily) Sherer; grandchildren Angie (Miche) Dwenger, Ian (Lacie) Winn, Tabatha (Luke) Brevik, Christina Joy, Daniel (Barbara) FitzPatrick, Kari (Hiram) Castro, Shawn FitzPatrick, Thomas (Samantha) FitzPatrick, Charlie and Charlotte Sherer, Ella and Lauren Sherer; 16 great-grandchildren; and brother Richard (Sandy) Sherer.

A memorial service will be held at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 1605 E. 106th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46280 where Bob was a member on August 3, 2024 at 11:00. Visitation will be immediately beforehand at 10:00. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth, IN in a family burial plot.

I have many good memories of Bob from the time we moved to Valpo in the 60s. Lots of card games shared at their home and our kids played together.
My husband also enjoyed fishing trips with the Sherer family. My condolences to the family.
