Ronald Gerber Obituary

RONALD R. GERBER PORTAGE, IN Ronald R. Gerber, age 79, of Portage passed away Saturday September 19, 2015. Ronald was born November 17, 1935 in Olney, Illinois to the late Raymond and Marie (Nicholas) Gerber. He retired from US Steel with over 40 years of service. Ronald was a member of the Loyal Order Of The Moose Calumet Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and golfing; and loved being outdoors. Ronald is survived by four children: Melody (Alan) Zumwalt of Sevierville, TN, Mark Gerber of Portage, Dianna (Tom) Sater of Valparaiso and Wayne (Lynn) Gerber of Portage; eight grandchildren: Brandon, Elizabeth, Amber, Joshua, Nicole, Lindsay, Kirsten and Nathan; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Lee) Gerber of Griffith; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Delores; his parents; two grandsons Shaun and Andrew; one brother, Richard and two sisters: Carol and Judy. Funeral services will be 11am Thursday September 24, 2015 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, IN 46368 with Rev. Eric Wood officiating. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be submitted at www.reesfuneralhomes.com
