Samuel DeYoung March 3, 1929 - August 14, 2003 DeMotte, IN Samuel DeYoung, age 74, of DeMotte, IN, went to his Eternal Home on Thursday, August 14, 2003. He was born in Schererville, IN to the late Fred and Tena Ebbens DeYoung. Married Elizabeth Kooy in Munster, IN on Feb. 6, 1959. who survives. Also survived by daughter, Cynthia Gail DeYoung of Hobart, IN; sons: Dale Allan (Mitzi) DeYoung of West Lafayette, IN and Jeffrey Scott (Cathy) DeYoung of Lansing, IL; brothers and sisters: William (Dorothy) DeYoung of Crown Point, Theressa Nicolai, Bernice DeYoung and Bernard DeYoung, all of DeMotte, Edward (Ruth) DeYoung of Brook, IN, Albert (Ardith) DeYoung of Crown Point, IN and Wesley (Angeline) DeYoung of Crescent City, FL. five grandchildren: Melissa, Andrew, Alexander, Benjamin and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Friends may call 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2003 at the Jackson Funeral Service, 200 Third St. SW, DeMotte, IN. Funeral service 10:00 a.m Monday, August 18, 2003 at the First Christian Reformed Church, 909 E. Greenwood, Crown Point, IN. with Rev. Joel Sheeres officiating. Interment, Holland Cemetery. Mr. DeYoung attended Dyer Central Public Schools. He had lived in St. John, IN, for 34 years before coming to DeMotte. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a self employed farmer and owner of St. John Elevator, St. John, IN. Member of First Christian Reformed Church, Crown Point, IN; lifetime member of VFW Post #717, St. John, IN, past Chief of St. John Volunteer Fire Dept. Past President of St. John Police Commission; member of Regional Advisory Board of Bank One and Past President of Economic Development Committee in St. John IN. Memorials to Elim Christian Services.
