SCOTT A. VANDER HOOGT DYER, IN
Scott A. VanderHoogt, age 38, of Dyer, IN, passed away at his home on Monday, March 18, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, David Scott VanderHoogt; paternal grandparents: Walter and Mezzo VanderHoogt; and maternal grandparents: Maynard and Anna Zwart. Scott is survived by his fiancee of six years, Stephanie C. Miller, the mother of his son, Caedman, age four; and daughter, Selene, age two. He is also survived by his son, Brennen VanderHoogt Sperry, age eight, of Merrillville; mother, Joan (Zwart) and stepfather, Jerry Eddy of Dyer; sister, Crystal (Steve) Kerns of Kentucky; brother, Shawn (Jennifer) VanderHoogt Sandate of Portage; two step-siblings: Matt (Brandy) Eddy of Schererville and Bianca Sandate of El Paso, TX. Scott was also a very loving uncle to six nieces, two nephews, one great niece and nephew. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Fagen Miller Funeral Home, 1920 Hart Street, Dyer with Reverend Paul Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Schererville, IN. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 -5:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Scott was a wonderful, loving, fiance, father, son, brother, and uncle. He was born September 17, 1974 in Hammond, IN. Scott attended Morton High School and went on to become an EMT, with a career that lasted more than 13 years, until the last five years being a wonderful stay at home dad to his two youngest children. Scott had many loves in his life, his family, his friends, camping, fishing, gaming, and following his two favorite Chicago teams, the Cubs and Da Bears.
