SHARON LESSIE Obituary

SHARON ANN LESSIE (MASKOVICH) February 28, 1945- September 28, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, beloved wife of Kenneth Lessie, and grandmother to Emily and Sarah. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children at St. Elizabeth Seton. Sharon will be forever missed by her husband, Ken; her daughters: Kimberly (Charles) and Sarah Donaldson, Jennifer (Ed) and Emily Green of Carmel, IN; mother-in-law, Edith Lessie (late Jack) of Thayer, IN; her six siblings; her soul-mate, Gayle (Greg) Smith; her loving baby sister, Louise (Chris) Babbitt; and her four brothers: James, Mark (Becky), Jerome (Janet) and John (Vicki) Maskovich; her aunt, Lillian King who was always near and dear to her heart; her brother-in-law, Lawrence (Kelli) Lessie of CA; her best friends and cousins: Diane and Don Kish and family of Winnipeg, Canada; and her cousin, Michelle (Bob) Pauls of Noblesville, IN, who was always a support to our family during this trying time. She had numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, who will also mourn her passing. She was predeceased by her mother, Matilda Maskovich (Sertich); her father, Walter Maskovich Jr.; and her precious granddaughter, Sydney Rose Donaldson. Mom went to school in Hammond, IN and married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Lessie, and celebrated fifty years with him on June the 23rd in 2012. Their young years took them to Griffith, IN, where Ken had a State Farm Insurance Agency and Sharon busied herself with many examples of her ability to make everything she touched beautiful. She had a flair for sewing, making baskets, decorating and using fabrics. In their later years, they moved to Carmel, IN and lived with her daughter, Jennifer and family, until passing. There, we always gathered for talking, discussing world affairs, latest fashions and always laughing with good fellowship. Family was very important to Mom. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family unconditionally. Mom always made us and everyone she came in contact with feel extra special. She was very caring, giving and hard working. Mom always saw the beauty in nature and in everyone she met. Only her late illness slowed her down. She had a special connection to her two grandchildren, Emily and Sarah, but her spirit she leaves behind for us all to remember and grab on to. We will have to move fast to catch up with her. Sharon, we love you and we’ll miss you forever, thank you for the beautiful memories. You can only have one mother, Loving, kind and true. No other friend in all the world Will be so true to you. For all her love and kindness, She asked nothing in return If all the world deserted us To our mother we could turn. For those of you who have a mother, Treasure her with care, For you will never know her value ‘till you see she is not there. To hear her voice, To see her smile, To sit and talk with her a while, To be together in the same old way, Would be our dearest wish today. Cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Friday, October 5th at 5:30 p.m. at Hope Church 2500 E. 98th St., Indianapolis. Refreshments to follow. If roses grow in heaven, Lord, Please, pick a bunch for us. Place them in our mother’s arms, And tell her they are from us. Tell her how much we love her, And when she turns to smile, Place a kiss upon her cheek And hold her for a while. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the National Kidney Foundation in memory of Mom. Arrangements entrusted to Leppert Mortuary, Smith Carmel Chapel.

Oh, what to say... too many words and not enough. I loved how my camera was able captured her total beauty both inside and out. Her generosity, her laugh, her joy, her caring nature (even for my often stubborn son), her thoughtfulness.

Simply said: simply missed, simply wonderful... simply, my friend.

A friend loves at all times... ~ Proverbs 17:17a

Oh, what to say... to many words and yet not enough. My camera saw her beauty both within and external, her laugh, her joy, her caring of others (especially my often stubborn son), a delight to be around.

So simply said, simply missed, simply wonderful... simply, my friend.

A friend loves at all times... ~Proverbs 17:17a

The world is missing a kind and gentle soul with the passing of this special woman. I have fond memories of time spent with Sharon, her mom, and her girls, when I first came into the family. Sharon was always so nice to me, and it is true, when you had a conversation with her, she always made you feel special, and she listened with her heart. I know she is having one of those conversations right now, with all those she has loved, who were waiting to welcome her with a cup of tea. When I think of her, I can hear her laugh and see her beautiful smile. My sympathies to Ken, Sharon's girls, and all the family, and my regret that circumstances will prohibit my attendance at her memorial. What lovely memories she has left for all who were lucky enough to know her and to love her.

You do not know me, but my family is sorry for your loss. When I read the poem that was in yesterday's paper, I broke down and cried. It expressed how much by sisters and brother miss our mother who passed away 7 years ago. What we wouldn't give for one more day, or conversation with her. Wishing your family peace.
