Tamara Galic PORTAGE, IN - Tamara Galic, age 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her three children by her side, on Monday October 9, 2017. Born in Daugavpils Latvia, she is survived by her three children: Dusan (Carol) Galic, Olga (Julio) Velazquez, Rosie (Robert) Capone; nine grandchildren: Nicole (Timothy) O'Connor, Alexis Galic, Adam (Christine) Velazquez, Robert (Crista) Capone, Elizabeth Galic, Daniel (Kelly) Velazquez, Benjamin Galic, Andrew Capone, and Tamara (Jim) Papenleur; two great grandchildren, Robbie and Carlo Capone; sisters, Skaidrite Legzdins, and Mirdza (John) Skapars. Preceded in death by parents Fridrich and Lidija Presse -Reisbergs, husband Nikola Galic and sister Erika Klich. She also leaves to cherish her memory many nieces and nephews, Kumovi, kind family friends and special Bingo friends at Bonner Senior Center, Betty and Kathy. Tamara worked as a dietary aide for St. Mary's Hospital, Ross Care Center and Methodist Hospital. She was a member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, past vice-president of the Circle of Serbian Sister's--'Kolo' and supporting member of Karageorge Choir. Tamara was a woman of many talents. She spoke five languages, loved to read, draw, and crochet. She was also known for making hundreds of Serbian donuts (krofne) at the yearly Serbfest festivals. She was fiercely independent, was proud of her Latvian heritage, and supported the customs and traditions of the Serbian Orthodox faith. Her greatest love was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, Baba and great-Baba. May her Memory be Eternal--- Vjecnaja Pamjat ! Funeral service on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 9:00 AM at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 9191 Mississippi St, Merrillville.
