Terry Lee Ray (age 74) of The Villages, Florida and Chesterton, Indiana passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Terry was born on August 23, 1951, in Gary, Indiana, to the late John Francis and Wilma Pearl Ray. He married his high school sweetheart, Janice Gwen Black, on April 25, 1970, in Gary, Indiana.

Terry began his career in the Pipefitters Local 597, completing his apprenticeship in 1975. His determination and tireless work ethic carried him to the management and shareholder ranks at BMW Constructors, from where he retired in 2013.

Above all else, Terry was a deeply committed family man. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who put his family first in every decision and in every aspect of life. His unwavering dedication to and love for them were the truest measures of his success, and his remarkable legacy will carry forward with his children and grandchildren.

One of Terry's favorite pastimes was giving directions-whether or not you asked for them-even if you had GPS and regardless of how many times you had been there. He considered himself a great navigator and found genuine happiness in helping others find their way, both on the road and in life.

Terry deeply loved and adored his grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. He could always be found cheering them on at sporting events, art shows, science fairs, and concerts. He cherished every moment, and his pride in them was immeasurable. His steady support, ever-present strength and unconditional love were a great source of comfort and joy that will live on in his family forever.

Terry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice (Black) Ray; his children, Dawn (Dana Carrillo) Ray, Becky (Jason) Trinks and Matthew (Casey) Ray; and his seven grandchildren, Olivia Trinks, Lauren Trinks, Audrey Carrillo, Caroline Carrillo, Miles Ray, Marlowe Ray, and Cameron Carrillo. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Francis Ray; mother, Wilma Pearl (Brunker) Ray; sister, Wilma "Fran" Greene; brothers, Thomas Ray, and Michael Ray; nephews, Jimmy Greene, and John Ray; and niece, Theresa (Ray) Adams.

Visitation for Terry will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana 46368.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the funeral home with Chaplain Joe Mollet officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, Indiana.
