Thomas Bobin Obituary
Thomas Bobin, age 69, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2016 surrounded by his family. Tom fought a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley; daughters: Andrea Bobin and Amy (Jason) Zientara; grandson, Owen Thomas Zientara; sister, Sharon Kessler; aunt, Sister Mary Adlabert, SSJ-TOSF; sisters in-law: Helen (Walter) Korotky, Lillian (Armand) Lopez and Bernice Szmutko; brother-in-law, Stan Kordys; and many nieces and nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, William and Stephany Bobin and brother, Robert Bobin. Tom was a 1965 graduate of Bishop Noll Institute. He proudly served in the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Air Force and was a 36 year member of American Legion Post 369. Tom retired from U.S. Steel - East Chicago Tin after 44 years of service. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. from SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 5885 Harrison St., Merrillville. Full Military Honors and burial will be at Calumet Park Cemetery following the service. Friends are invited to meet with Tom's family on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft St., Merrillville and on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Memorial donations in Tom's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Calumet Area. www.mycalumetpark.com

Am saddened to hear of Tom's death. He was a nice, personable guy, always pleasant. Through his gifted brother Bob,Tom became a true friend to the Polish music community in Chicago and northwest Indiana for many years. We mourn his passing and send our sympathy to his dear wife and family.

I am so sorry to read of Tom's passing. I worked with him at the old LTV (Youngstown)plant in the weighers group. My sincerest condolences to the Bobin family.
