Thomas M. Kirin

-

WHITING, IN - Thomas M. Kirin, 72 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024 surrounded by his most cherished family at his residence. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Gail (nee Wall); loving father of Jamie (Gina) Kirin, Kim (Keith) Kilmer, Jennifer (Anthony) Rotkvich and Joshua (Melissa) Kirin; proud grandpa of Zachary (Kim) Kirin, Madison Rotkvich, Andrew Kirin, and Joshua and Abigail Kirin; dearest brother of Janice (Ed) Crepeau and Laura (Tim) Granata; dear brother-in-law of Patricia (John) Whiting and Kenneth (Kim) Wall; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation at the BARAN FUNERAL HOME, 1235-119th St., Whiting on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 2:30pm to time of funeral services at 6:30pm with the Rev. Timothy McFarland, C.PP.S. of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, officiating, followed by Military Honors with the United States Army and the American Legion, Whiting Post 80; cremation to follow. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.

Tom Kirin was born on October 25, 1951 to Nick and Ella (Demko) Kirin and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He was a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School, Class of 1970 and was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. Tom served overseas from 1970 to 1972 and was a member of the American Legion Whiting Post 80. He worked as a welder at Youngstown Sheet & Tube, US Steel, and Hilti and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union.  Tom was an avid fisherman and loved his sports. He enjoyed watching game shows, traveling, working crossword puzzles, playing the lottery, and frequenting the casino. However, his greatest passion was his family. More than anything, he was a husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend. If you were lucky enough to know TK, you know how special he was. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (https://www.vvmf.org) or Honor Flight Network (https://www.honorflight.org) would be appreciated. (219)659-4400
