TRINIDAD ESCAMILLA HAMMOND, IN
Trinidad Escamilla, age 92, passed on Thursday, March 9, 2017, in her home surrounded by her beloved family. Trinidad was born on May 8, 1924 to Guadalupe and Maria Luisa Guerrero and was raised in Laredo, TX until she moved to Indiana in 1957. She married Magdaleno Escamilla on May 1, 1949. Trinidad was a resident of the Hammond area for over 50 years and was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary's Parish. She worked for Franciscan Health formerly known as St. Margaret Mercy for 20 years. Trinidad was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Magdaleno and son David. She is survived by her sisters: Virginia Mariscal and Lucy Mendez, seven children: Maria de la Luz (Roberto) Martinez, Maria Magdalena (Anthony) Gillian, Maria Guadalupe (Pedro) Gutierrez, Maria Luisa Escamilla, Margarita (Enrique) Luna, Jesus (Victoria) Escamilla, Francisca (Al) Mendoza, and multiple grandchildren/ great grandchildren. Trinidad loved the Lord and faithfully prayed every day. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading newspapers, and playing checkers. It was a thrill for her to beat everyone. As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she took great pride in everyone's accomplishments and was there to offer comfort during their hardships. On Sundays her house was often bursting with sounds of laughter, family reminiscing and children playing. Trinidad lived a selfless life always reminding everyone to above all put God and family first. Viewing will be on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Burn-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN from 4:00-8:00p.m. A mass will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at St. Margret Mary Parish, 1445 Hoffman Street Hammond, IN at 10:00 a.m. Trinidad will be laid to rest at St. John/St. Joseph Cemetery, 1547 167th Street Hammond, IN next to her husband, son, and mother.
