Thank you for writing God I´ve Gotta Talk to You. It was my favorite prayer book as a child and believe it or not, it´s simple prayers brought great peace into my adult life. May Rev. Walter rest in peace.

If is with great sadness that I read this obituary. I am, just this week, beginning to teach both my high school and college classes using The Book of the Dun Cow. It has been one of my absolute favorite novels for over 30 years and has a treasured place on my bookcase and in my heart. My deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones at this time. He will be remembered!

My heartfelt sympathy to Professor Wangerin´s family. Despite his numerous accomplishments and awards, family was always first along with his love of the Lord. The legacy posting seems so modest and small in light of all of the lives that Professor Wangerin touched and impacted.
I had the privilege of knowing him as a student at VU and briefly as a patient. His warmth and love radiated from his face, voice and touch. Even if you never had the opportunity to meet or know him,in person,if you read any of his writings, you knew him. His writings were love letters for everyone. His writings were for young and old, man or woman, all races, religions and creeds. He will be greatly missed but what gifts he left us all! Rest in God´s loving arms, Walt Wangerin. You were a good and faithful servant!

How often I've been comforted, inspired, encouraged, by the words written by this dear man. Thank you, Lord, for Rev. Wangerin (or, as we readers know him, Walter Wangerin), and his willingness to be used of You to share Your love, mercy, salvation! And may You comfort his family and all who love him.
