Wayne A. Rucinski of Portage, IN passed away at his home on November 10, 2024. Wayne was born February 17, 1953, to the late Theodore (Burt) Rucinski and Dorothy Rucinski (nee Kornkowski) who preceded him in death. His family spent much of their time living in Chicago. He is survived by his siblings: Barry (Louise) Rucinski, Lyn Kiraly Blum and Alan (Joy) Rucinski. He was a loving uncle to James Kiraly, Mandy Kiraly, Stephynie Blum and Crystal (Bryce) Gawronski. Wayne was proud to be a great-uncle to Bryce A. Gawronski, Evelyn Smith, and Weston DeWees.
Wayne loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed sharing memories of the Boy Scouts, working at US Steel and the CTA. He was known for his love of cheering on Chicago sports teams, keeping up with the movies, and enjoying the sounds of local bands. Wayne often attended social gatherings where his vibrant presence and warm spirit will be deeply missed. He was always ready to make new friends and cared deeply, never hesitating to help loved ones. A memorial visitation will be held on December 4, 2024, at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN, at 9 a.m. until time of memorial service at 10 a.m. Rev. Leo Gajardo officiating. I had the privilege of experiencing Wayne's warm spirit & honest soul when my brother & his sister married, with our paths linking again as we served as godparents to our wedded siblings' firstborn child. Wayne was a "giver", both to appreciative folks, & to those who sorely abused his generosity. May our Lord grant him the eternal rest that he's earned!
