WILLIAM STARZYK Obituary
William "Bill" L. Starzyk, age 74, of Dyer, IN, passed away March 14, 2016 following a brave battle with cancer. Formerly of Harvey, IL, he is fondly remembered as longtime proprietor of Ed's Garden Center. Beloved husband of Marcey L. McCann. Loving brother of Marianne (late Walter) Blumenthal, Kathleen (late Robert) Preston, and Edward (Sharon) Starzyk. Dear uncle of Jacqueline (Kent) Petersen and Brian (Lisa) Czarniecki. Preceded in death by his parents Edward and Genevieve Starzyk. Memorial Mass Monday, March 21, 2016 at St. Maria Goretti Church (500 Northgate Dr., Dyer, IN) at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles Niblick officiating. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to The Michael J. Fox Foundation would be appreciated. Hey Bahama, I know you're in there!
Marcey, the punchline to one of the many stories Bahama made us listen to every year for the over 25 years on our annual baseball trip. We all knew every word of every story but when Bill told them every year we laughed like it was the first time we had heard them. The stories live on and so will the legacy of one William L. Starzyk, My family and I are pulling for you Marcey, hang in there.

Marcey - Words cannot express how sad I am. We have been friends for so many years, even though we have not seen each other in a few. I have such wonderful memories of our fun times together, playing cards, going to bingo, skiing (actually I think we spent most of our time warming up with a hot toddy) your visit to Utah and ours to Indiana just to name a few and Bill always, always making us laugh! He always had a smile and was a very caring and special friend who would do anything for you. My heart goes out to you and your family Marcey and I know Bill will always be watching over you with a smile, as he is now resting in peace. Bill, until we meet again my friend and I know you'll have a cocktail waiting! Hugs and love.

So sorry to hear about Bill, although it has been many years I will always have fond memories of Bill and the good times we had.
Every year at Xmas we would go to Ed's and Bill would help us or we thought he was helping us negotiate a pric for his Dad!s flocked Xmas trees.

We are going to really miss you on all the good times we had each summer on the annual baseball excursions to the different ballparks. You were a million laughs and always in a positive mood-except when it came to the Cubs. Here's hoping they, along with the Fighting Irish, go all the way this year.
