ZOFIA "SOPHIE" NAGUCKI (NEE BALZAM) HAMMOND, IN Zofia "Sophie" Nagucki, nee Balzam, age 75, of Hammond, IN, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014. She is survived by her four daughters: Christine (Larry) Zurek, Barbara (John) Sealy, Diane Nagucki, and Margaret (Kevin) Trader; five grandchildren: Brett, Rachael, Adam, Jackson, and Ryan; one sister, Helena, in Poland. Preceded in death by her husband, Chester in 1978. Funeral services Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the Anthony & Dziadowicz Funeral Home, 4404 Cameron Avenue, Hammond (2 blocks E. of Hohman, 1 block N. of Gostlin), 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Casimir Church with Rev. Vladimir Janeczek officiating. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois. Visitation on Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Nagucki was a Hammond resident for the past 53 years. She was a retired employee of Millard Maintenance Service Company in Chicago with 33 years of service. Sophie loved gardening and spending time with her family. After being widowed at age 38, Sophie single-handedly raised her four young daughters. She was a dedicated and devoted wife and mother, and a hard worker, who made many sacrifices to take care of her daughters. Sophie will be deeply missed by all.
